Library Volunteer Olivia Farndon wins Ajax Education Award

Olivia Farndon

Congratulations to Olivia Fardon who was presented with the Ajax Community Award for Education last night for her outstanding volunteer work with the Ajax Reading Circle over the past three years.

The Education Award is given to an individual for their work in the enhancement of learning opportunities for Ajax resident(s) through educational support, programs, events or training.

Olivia was nominated for the award for her commitment to volunteering, becoming the lead volunteer for the Ajax Reading Circle after her first year, and her leadership skills which have made her a valuable member of the team.

Olivia, now in Grade 11, has already completed her community service hours requirement for high school, but she continues to participate in the program and serve her community because she loves it. She has excelled in the role of lead volunteer and has maintained one of the highest levels of commitment to our program during the 16 years it has run.

She is well loved by the kids, and they love working with her as she helps them develop their reading skills, use eReaders, access computer reading programs, and work on craft activities offered at the Saturday morning session.

We are privileged to have this outstanding young woman dedicate her time to this Library program. Thank you Olivia, and congratulations!
