Due to system changes with OverDrive, you may be experiencing compatibility issues with your device. Here are some options depending on the device you use.
Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)
Some users have had problems downloading library eBooks using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) 2.0 or below. As a solution, we recommend always using the latest version of ADE (currently version 4.5).
Customers are invited to uninstall their current version of ADE, download the latest version and authorize with their Adobe ID. Click here to access online help for various operating systems.
An exception to this is Kobo eReaders with Windows 10. These customers may have issues with downloading existing loans and holds when they become available. Items may download but will not show the covers in their Kobo. They will receive an error with a long number/letter combination with 'authorization included' in the text. The customer will need to de-authorize both the Adobe Digital Editions and Kobo eReader and then re-authorize both with the same Adobe ID. If this fails, we recommend the customer remove their current version of ADE and install version 3.0. ADE and the Kobo both will need to be re-authorized.
Some Windows XP users have continued to experience issues after upgrading ADE, so they may still have difficulty downloading library eBooks. Microsoft discontinued support for XP in 2014, and unfortunately there is no solution for these users at this time.
Sony Reader Wi-Fi
Sony Reader Wi-Fi devices no longer allow users to download library eBooks directly on the device.
Users can still download library eBooks to Sony Reader software on their computer, then transfer eBooks from their computer to their Sony Reader.
