Volunteering at the Library

Volunteers 18 years of age and older must complete a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check

Foreign college and university students can use their volunteer hours as Canadian work experience.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Ajax Reading Circle (Teens, completed Grade 8 up to age 19)

During this weekly 1.5 hour program at Main Branch, you will assist kids ages 4 to 12 with reading while having fun with crafts, games and technology in French.

Saturdays
Sept. 2017 – June 2018
10:30 — 11:30 a.m.

 

  • Le Club Français (Teens, completed Grade 8 up to age 19)

During this weekly 1.5 hour program at Main Branch, you will assist kids ages 6 to 12 with reading while having fun with crafts, games and technology in French.

Mondays
Sept. 2017 – June 2018
6:30 — 7:30 p.m.

  • TD Summer Reading Club Team (Teens, completed Grade 8 up to age 19)

June – August 2017

Read one-on-one, or in small groups, with kids ages 4+, assist with crafts and/or games with kids ages 4+, assist with registration, tracking and distribution of incentives.

Application deadline: Tuesday, May 24

 

  • Teen Advisory Council (Teens, completed Grade 8 up to age 19)

June 2017 – June 2018

Meet weekly with other teens from Ajax high schools, assist with programs/services, and provide feedback on youth collections, help with Library or community events and advocate for the Library.

Application deadline: Saturday, June 17

 

  • Stay Connected (General)

We’re looking for adults that have extensive experience with iPads, tablets, Skype, social media platforms and online games to teach one-on-one educational sessions with seniors. Speaking another language is an asset.
