Black Girls Empowerment STEM Club
February 1, 8, and 15 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Intended for girls in grades 7 - 9, advance registration required. 
Hosted on Zoom, with kit pick-up in advance at Main Branch.

In collaboration with Ajax Public Library and the Congress of Black Women of Canada Ajax/Pickering Chapter, the Black Girls Empowerment STEM Club aims to ignite a passion for STEM in a series of fun and engaging hands-on activities. Students will learn from Black female STEM students and explore how they can solve real-world issues and benefit society through engineering.

16th Annual Durham Black History Month Celebration

This year's theme, FOCUS, challenges our community to look at the Black History and Black History-Makers right here at home. The people who inspire us, the resources we need to grow, and the networks that can lift us are all in our backyard.

Black History Month Movie: Journey to Justice

The documentary "Journey to Justice" (2000, 47 minutes, directed by Roger McTair) pays tribute to a group of Canadians who took racism to court. They are Canada's unsung heroes in the fight for Black civil rights. Presented in partnership with the Congress of Black Women of Canada, Ajax/Pickering Chapter.

Black Excellence in STEM Careers: Diversity in Engineering

As an Engineering practitioner and advocate for Diversity in Engineering, Gary Thompson shares his experiences and opportunities for success in this STEM field.
