Social writers and avid authors alike–ignite your creativity using our provided topics and phrases! Every month, we challenge you to create an original piece based on a new topic. Bring your tale to the circle for sharing.
We provide snacks. We ask that you bring your own writing supplies.
September 11: Culture Day’s Special (registration required)
Featuring local poet and author Judith Shaw and her poems from new work “Savouring Verses: A Jamaican Childhood (Re)Collection.” A Q&A about the writing process will be followed by a guided group writing activity. Copies of Judith Shaw’s books will be available for purchase.
October 9: Spooky Special (registration required)
Featuring Canadian authors Tobin Elliott and Dale Long read and discuss their short stories from anthology, “George Watertower and Other Childhood Terrors”. A Q&A about the writing process will be followed by a guided group writing activity. Copies of authors’ books will be available for purchase.
November 13: Historical Writing with an Archivist (drop-in)
Explore objects, artifacts and letters from the Ajax Archives with the Library’s Archives Services Librarian as inspiration for a historical-themed writing exercise.
December 11: End-of-the-year Celebration (drop-in)
Enjoy refreshments, mingle with other writers, participate in group writing challenges and board games like Scattergories, Boggle, and more!
