Discover the Library of Things

The Library has more than books to borrow! And while we love books, there is so much to discover with your Ajax Public Library card. So how can you use your card to borrow things like iPads and GoPro cameras? Through the Library of Things! It’s exactly what it sounds like – things you can borrow from our collection, the same way you would borrow books. Let’s take a look at some of the things available.

Bird Watching Kits
Start your birding adventure with a Bird Watching Kit! This kit has everything you need to observe and identify birds: one Sibley Birds East book, one pair of binoculars, local maps, and an information sheet.

C-Pen Reader
Borrow a C-Pen Reader to read printed text aloud for you. It features multi-language dictionaries, including the Oxford Primary Dictionary, Vox Spanish dictionary, and Cordial French dictionary. The C-Pen Reader also remembers the words you have looked up and saves your history.

iPads and Tech
Looking for ways to stay connected? The Library of Things has a variety of devices to borrow, including iPads and Chromebooks. And if you’re on the go, we have Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots available.

Ontario Parks Passes
Discover the beauty of Ontario’s provincial parks for free! Parks Passes provide complimentary day-use access for one vehicle and its occupants at more than 100 provincial parks.

Toy Library
Play and learn with toys for all ages and interests! Borrow sensory toys, like the Animal Friends set, or flex your memory skills with the Unicatz Memory Match Game.

CO2 Monitors
If you want to check the air quality indoors, borrow an Aranet4 CO2 monitor. These devices measure CO2 level, temperature, relative humidity, and atmospheric pressure, and are suitable for monitoring at home, in schools, offices, or other indoor environments.
